Calypso Carol

I have not written a post in a while and there is a good reason, well am out of town and having a blast, and have not been in the mood to write anything at all. Although I have somehow found the time to at least do my blog rounds and read your posts....
Today, i am sharing with you another favourite Christmas song of mine, the Calypso carol, or See him lying on a bed of straw, which ever one you know it as. I did not really find a great video for this ( maybe i am just too lazy to look properly), so this version done by a youth choir will have to do, i think they sang it well, don't you?

Lyrics

See him lying on a bed of straw
A draughty stable with an open door
Mary cradling the babe she bore
The prince of glory is his name

O now carry me to Bethlehem
To see the Lord of love again
Just as poor as was the stable then
The prince of glory when he came

Star of silver sweep across the skies
Show where Jesus in the manger lies
Shepherds swiftly from your stupor rise
To see the savior of the world

Angels sing again the song you sang
Sing the story of God’s gracious plan
Sing that Beth’lem’s little baby can
Be the saviour of us all

Mine are riches from your poverty
From your innocence eternity
Mine forgiveness by your death for me
Child of sorrow for my joy

  1. I never knew that was the title of that Xmas Carol. And I didn't know the lyrics too. Just used to hum along or mumble some words whenever I heard the song. :-D. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy yourself to the fullest dear.
